Fallen Women

There’s been a plethora of ‘fallen women’ in the news recently. Together with the others I’ve complained about over the years, they snap in half the scratched record that we need more women ‘at the top’ (as opposed to ‘on top’) to better reflect society (not that there is such a thing, according to one woman who so deserved to be at the top, and by that I mean at the right hand of God). The other argument for positive discrimination is that women bring something to the executive echelon that men can’t. They sure do, but I don’t think the following roll of dishonour is what was anticipated.

Let’s start with the three bitches witches who made utter fools of themselves, their institutions, their sex and their country at the recent US congressional hearing. Step forward (preferably off the plank), Dr Claudine Gay, Harvard's $900,000-a-year president, UPenn President Liz Magill, and MIT President Dr Sally Kornbluth. Quick to condemn anyone who uses the wrong pronouns, they were glacially slow to condemn the campus-calls for the genocide of Jews. Can you imagine how they’d react, especially Dr Gay, to anyone justifying the non-payment of reparations for slavery? The UPenn woman has resigned. A small comfort for the upset she has caused innocent, defenceless Jews.

Another woman deserved of disapprobation is of course Nat West’s Dame Alison Rose. Setting herself up as a 21st-century leader looking to green, diversify, include and compassion all aspects of her corporate empire, she was caught with her pants down by none other than Nigel Farage. Putting to one side the moral arguments about how she didn’t want to include or compassion someone simply because she didn’t share his perfectly legal, logical and popular political views, her corporate judgement was found wanting. She approved the de-Banking of Farage because he was perceived to be a risk to Nat West’s reputation. Did she not consider the possibility that he might kick up a fuss, or that if he did, he might actually attract a modicum of support that would – er – risk the bank’s reputation? Nope. Rose failed morally and professionally. She should be de-Damed for de-Banking.

Now we turn our attention to the frightful Amanda Blanc, the CEO of Aviva, who seems to be allergic to white men as she wants to vet all such senor appointees. She wants to end sexism in the financial services industry by being sexist. Apparently, if the preferred candidate for a senior role at the firm is not diverse, then Mrs Blanc will check the recruitment process. As well as being discriminatory against white men, and therefore immoral, she is of course not doing what a CEO should be doing while she’s checking what boxes have been ticked and trawling through emails looking for a contrived smoking gun. If I were an Aviva shareholder, I’d dump my shares before customers and the market dump Aviva.

Talking of useless female executives, what about the Reverend Paula Vennells CBE of Post Office Horizon Computer System infamy. Even if she’s not defrocked and de-CBEd, at least she’ll be damned for all eternity.

Enough of the business world, let’s delve into politics and Diane Abbot, another black woman who thinks racism against black people is abhorrent – it is – but that it’s ok to be antisemitic. Go figure! Except she can’t because she’s innumerate.

Then there’s Nicola Sturgeon. As dishonest, crooked and malevolent as any male politician, she betrayed her sex by supporting a pervert’s right to change his gender and abuse women in what should be safe spaces. I mean, Boris ain’t no choir boy, but compared to Sturgeon, he’s the Pope.

Another woman who’s been promoted above her abilities, or moral capacity judging by her zeal for throwing people out of their homes for the sake of a white elephant, is Beth West, CEO East West Rail, prior to which she was Commercial Director at HS2. From one white elephant to another. Maybe her next appointment should be with a zoo.

We started with three witches and here's another two: Theresa May and Lady Hale, both Mata Haris whose loyalties were to foreign powers, to the detriment of their own country.

I recently had a pop at Hopeless (Baroness) Hallett who's chairing the Covid public inquiry. So far she's lined lawyers' pockets, sidestepped the most important question of all - where did the virus come from?- and facilitated another round of Boris Bashing. What should have been a springboard to learn from mistakes and be better prepared for the next pandemic is nothing more than finger-pointing, blame-gaming posturing.

There are some brill ladies out there, appointed on merit. If only everyone was, then we might have fewer women in top jobs, but the country might be in a better position. You know what they say: Go woke, Go broke.

  1. Boris for Pope, now there's a novel, if scarey idea. But. Lets face it, although there are now women priests, all be it against the wishes of not just individuals but actual Diocese themseves, my late Mum's local church said we could not hold her funeral there as we asked her daughter in law preside, mum had supported that church and even left a bequest in her will. The prejudice against female clergy is no longer acceptable. Extend that point of view to the appointment of women to the Boards, it is also not acceptable however as quoted in this blog, many women CEOs have an agenda, or they simply flawed, if not down right dishonest and prejidice themselves.
So if women in top jobs have proved anything it's that they are just as good and just as bad as themen.
Heaven help us when we're considerring trans, binary, can't make my mind up brigade.
